Oirase Gorge is one of Japan's most representative scenic spots, stretching for about 14km from Nenokuchi on the shore of Lake Towada in Aomori Prefecture to Yakeyama. Visitors can enjoy the spectacular scenery created by its lush, moss-covered forests, numerous waterfalls, and beautiful clear stream.

Hanamaki Onsen-kyo (Hanamaki Hot Spring Village)

Hanamaki Onsen-kyo is a hot spring village where 12 hot springs, including Hanamaki, Dai, Shidotaira, Osawa, and Namari Onsen, spring up, primarily along two rivers flowing through a quiet mountain valley. There are many unique hot spring inns, from those with open-air baths along mountain streams to accommodations with the atmosphere of a secluded, hidden spring.

Lake Tazawa is Japan's deepest lake, boasting a maximum depth of 423 meters. It is characterized by its sparkling cobalt-blue surface and features tourist spots like the statue of the legendary beauty, Tatsuko. The secluded Nyuto Onsen-kyo is the collective name for seven hot spring inns scattered throughout the beech forests at the foot of Mt. Nyuto, and it is known as one of Japan's most famous hidden hot spring areas.

While Zao is strongly associated with winter for its "snow monsters" (juhyo) and ski resorts, you can also enjoy it to the fullest during the green season. Activities include an aerial walk on the year-round ropeway, trekking to Dokko-numa Pond, visiting the "Zao Terrace" for spectacular views, and relaxing in the "Zao Large Open-Air Bath" surrounded by magnificent nature.

The Bandai area is known as "Japan's Lake District." Urabandai (Inner Bandai), where you can walk around the mystical "Goshikinuma Ponds" created by a volcanic eruption, is a treasure trove of adventures like canoeing and snowshoeing. Meanwhile, Omotebandai (Outer Bandai), which overlooks the majestic Lake Inawashiro, sees thousands of swans in the winter and also offers skiing with spectacular views.

Tsukioka Onsen is characterized by its emerald-green sulfur spring water. It is a popular hot spring town, especially among women, and is known as "the hot spring that makes you more beautiful." You can fully enjoy strolling through the town, which has many shops offering samples, such as a store for tasting local sake from within the prefecture and a specialty smoothie and gelato shop where you can casually enjoy fruits and vegetables.
