The package is overpriced. I will arrange accommodation, train tickets myself next time I go and pick up an audio guide from the information centre in town.

Great experience well organized! A pity that the limited express leaves at 9am, but the information office where one gets all the information only opens at that time. So try to pick up your documents a day in advance. There is no express train after the 9am train so it is worth the effort. Koyasan itself is a must for Japan afficionados - albeit we only made it up there on our fifth visit. The walk through the woods to the Okunoin is simply magic! Many of the temples are really beautiful and temple lodging is a wonderful experience in itself. The meals we were served at the Henkojo in was naturally vegetarian, but of a very high standard - delicious. And the room was very comfortable, certainly not a monk's cell. So we enjoyed the two days in every respect and would book through Japanican again.
