Founded in 1898 during Meiji era (1868-1912), Togetsu Tei, one among the best hotels for strolling in Sagano, is situated at Togetsubashi Minamizume. Inside the hotel, Kitayama Maruta (Kyoto's symbolic tree used in traditional buildings) are all over the place. Scents of Oko (Japanese incense) and sounds of Koto (Traditional Japanese stringed musical instrument) reproduce the true Kyoto atmosphere.
Hot spring water will be available in the Shuzankaku 1st floor large communal baths from 16:00 to 0:00 (midnight) and from 6:00 to 9:00.

A wonderful experience. After a tiring day of visiting the sites of Kyoto, Togetsu-tei was an oasis of calm and relaxation. The food, baths and futon were fantastic. The service was impeccable by all members of the staff. Highly recommend!

Paying for the use of the private Onsen is expected but I was surprised that I had to pay for the use of the public Onsen. I would expect that the public Onsen within the hotel would be free of charge for hotel guests. This should be reviewed.

No one will not disagree that the staffs of this ryokan try to provide the best at they can do. Food was fantastic, in some parts it goes beyond the average level of ordinary kaiseki ryokan foods.

The entire experience was lovely and relaxing and 100% worth it. The traditional food we had was delicious and my family and I felt spoilt. Thank you for having us we will definitely come again.
