Tamagawa Onsen has radium hot springs, a rarity in the world. Its water is highly acidic, mainly composed of hydrochloric acid. It is said that its properties make it a highly effective medicinal hot spring bath.
How to get there?
From Tazawako Station (JR Akita Shinkansen): take the bus bound for Hachimanta-chojo and get off at Tamagawa Onsen. Less than 1 min on foot from there.
By car: Exit the Tohoku Expressway at Morioka IC and continue along Route 36 to Route 341 for about 120 min (80 km).

By car: Exit the Tohoku Expressway at Kosaka-Towada IC and continue on the Jukai Line for about 30 min (20 km), then National Route 103 towards Lake Towada rest area.
