Room is dirty and walls are mouldy. Air-con, bed head, hairdryer are dusty. Stains on bed cover. There's no lift in the building and at the time of my stay, they are undergoing renovation.

We loved our stay at Nikko Tokanso: lovely hosts, very generous. Futon were the best I've slept on, and the food was superb! We visited in winter, which is not prime tourist season in Nikko, but we still had a wonderful time!!

Very convenient location, very quiet, nice people. Easiest way to find the hotel initially is from Inaricho subway station (using a google map), though once you have understood the pedestrian underpasses and overpasses at Ueno that is the quickest route.

The place is a little difficult to find at first. Took me 30 minutes to walk around with my luggage at night. Thankfully, once you found it, it is pretty easy to navigate. The staff is warm and friendly, especially Kyoko-san.
