For someone looking for a reasonably price hotel around Shinjuku, the Toyoko Inn Kabukicho is fine for an experience non-Japanese-speaking traveller. It's a 10-minute walk from Shinjuku station, at the north end of Kabukicho, and just south of the Korean

“Above average”
The room was wonderful, bed was quite comfortable to sleep in and the bathroom/ desk and room were quite clean. The only issue I really had with the hotel was the difficulty in finding it from Shijuku Station; I ended up getting a cab from the JR Shinjuku
