The hot springs here is said to have been discovered by a villager with a sickle in 1428, after which it became known for its medicinal qualities. The saline springs are thought to have an effect on injuries and gastrointestinal disorders. With a great environment for healing, these facilities are largely focused on medical treatment. 20 minutes by car to Zao Fox Village.

    Exceptional”

    A beautiful, authentic ryokan, with charming staff and grounds! We really enjoyed the food (be warned- their meals are HUGE- make sure you work up a good appetite), and in general wandering the ryokan, looking at their exhibit style front lobby. The room w
