Close to stone steps, everything is good.”

A long-established ryokan established in 1868. Burdock tea service in the lobby with cute seasonal decorations. From the clean rooms, you can enjoy the view of Ishidan Machi, cherry blossoms in full bloom, and the mountains in the direction of Kusatsu Onsen. The spacious indoor and outdoor baths are filled with the golden brown water of Ikaho Onsen, which is rich in hot spring water. Dinner is served at a table in a large hall. As the proprietress greeted each guest at each table, she served an elaborate menu from appetizers to desserts, including a delicious local dish of ookirikomi udon noodles. Many staff members are on hand to serve guests, so beverage orders and drop-offs are prompt. Breakfast is served buffet style at the newly renovated restaurant. Blessed with clear skies and a panoramic view from Tanigawa-dake to Shiga Kogen. The buffet was full of Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes, juices, cakes, and fruits. The view is perfect. The Wi-Fi is also very fast. Ishidagai is a 3-minute walk away. There is a hidden onsen manju shop nearby, and we were able to fully enjoy the Ikaho onsen.

    Very good”

We enjoyed our stay at Moriaki Ryokan. Its location is not easy to access unless you drive (we did, so had no issues arriving/leaving). However it's location is also interesting as it's in the heart of Ikaho onsen village, right next to a quaint 'Stone Ste
