Hidden at the foot of the mountains in the Okumino region is this secluded hot spring retreat. This small inn occupies a historical private home built 160 years ago. The main building was relocated from the Echigo region and remodeled to meet modern tastes. This property features 12 Japanese/Western-style guestrooms, reconstructed from traditional storehouses, complete with open-air baths. Each guestroom is decorated with a unique mountain village style interior and fitted with a sunken hearth.
Guests at this hotel can look forward to irori cuisine kaiseki course cooked over the open flames of a traditional sunken hearth in the comfort of a private dining room. The dinner menu includes a selection of exquisitely prepared dishes made with local and seasonal ingredients such as red spotted masu trout, Iwana mountain trout, ayu sweetfish, and Okumino region's rainbow trout raised on the crystal clear waters of the Itadori River, mountain vegetables, mushrooms and various other mountain delicacies. The breakfast menu will also consist of an irori style meal served in the comfort of a private dining room.
Enjoy a relaxing hot spring bath at one of the 6 various baths sourced from natural spring water or 2 open-air baths this inn has to offer. The peaceful sound of rushing water will sooth both body and soul. Enjoy gazing at a breathtaking scenery of a sky full of stars from the open-air bath crafted with 400 year old Japanese umbrella-pine. You are sure to enjoy an unforgettable experience here. The open-air baths are situated overlooking the Itadori River and offer guests a unique way to take in the beautiful surrounding seasonal scenery.
