Right at the heart of the downtown area in a historic shopping street stands Tsuruya Ryokan. Its guestrooms exude a calming warm light, it seems as if the atmosphere of the olden days continues to linger. A flat-screen TV, air cleaner with filter, and safety deposit box are provided in the rooms. Tatami-matted Japanese-style rooms with futon beddings are also provided.

Excellent location at quiet far end of Kyu Karuizawa, a charming street full of quaint shops selling local specialities. Nice walking trails in the vicinity and we walk to the end of the Usui Pass lookout, had our sansai soba lunch at a charming restauran

“Pleasant service”
All the employees were very kind and made me feel comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and very satisfying, with a choice of Japanese, Western, or a combination of Japanese and Western food, and free drinks. The location of the inn is excellent, and it is a historic inn where many great writers stayed in the past. I would definitely like to stay there again next year.
