This is a historical hot spring where Saigo Takamori, a Japanese samurai and nobleman, was said to have spent 3 months to heal his mind and body. On site is a charming bath with a spectacular view of the Kyushu Mountains in the distance. The natural steam bath with steam coming out from the earth is also very popular. The adjacent Shiratori Chaya claims to serve Japan's best katsudon and delicious soba and udon noodles. Feel free to try them!
