Located in Mt. Hakkoda, a part of Towada-Hachimantai National Park, the hotel is convenient for sightseeing of Lake Towada and Tsugaru Shimokita Peninsula. The hotel takes pride in their "hiba sennin-buro (large communal bath)" entirely made with hiba arborvitae wood, one of the local specialty of Aomori Prefecture.

Still feels tad bit uncomfortable about the squatting toilets. The highlight of this property is obviously the mixed bath onsen with a lot of history. So it was quite disappointing to learn that they blocked out the peak hour for shower (8~9pm) exclusively

We enjoy every minute of our stay! However, we were surprised that the baths were not as mixed as expected, i was the only female during the mixed bath times. Even so, we highly recomend this ryokan. Nice food, nice room, outstanding location.

This is a rather isolated onsen in Aomori. There is a free shuttle that takes you from Aomori city to Sukayu Onsen twice a day. I was there only recently in winter and it was snowing heavily. The scenery is beautiful and quiet. Definitely a great getaw

Authentic onsen with very good sulphuric water. Good service but no English speaking staff. The rooms are noisy because its common toilet with people walking pass often. Rooms are only separated by a cupboard wall so I can hear the tv next door switched on

A truly amazing onsen experience. That is a classic bathhouse and should be experienced by anyone who loves onsen. There is incredible hiking in the area with trailheads starting from both sides of the property. Just know this is an old building and the ro

There were many excellent services when my girlfriend and I were staying there in early March 2015 but below are two outstanding ones: 1. We were looking for a spot to snowshoe and approached the front desk for information. When they found out two of us

It's location in the mountains, quite a distance from Aomori city proper. They have a shuttle server but if you choose not to use that, you will need to use the JR bus which will take around 45 minutes to reach the location from Aomori station. They have a

Excellent service. The staff was incredibly helpful and always went the extra mile to assist us even with the language barrier. Food was excellent, though our dinners were very traditional. So be warned, if you're not a fan of seafood, let the staff know p

We really enjoyed the hospitality and the wonderful wooden onsen bath. If you want to experience old and new, this is a great place. Pity that they do their renovations not in the traditional style.

We had communication problems as we don't know Japanese. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. The place is clean but old. Food on the arrival night was OK and very good on the second night.
