More about Hokuten no Oka Abashiriko Tsuruga Resort

The hotel is perched atop a beautiful hill overlooking Lake Abashiri. Inspired by the history and culture of the North, the hotel exhibits a trraditional and soothing ambience. The interior is decorated with artwork, carvings and decorations that pay homage to the Okhotsk culture, who settled in the area a long time ago. Guests can relax in the outdoor hot spring bath or the hot stone sauna. Choose between a buffet-style restaurant or a French restaurant, which serves wine from the cellar stocked with 2,000 bottles. Both restaurants prepare food with delicious local produce, from sea and land. The hotel also provides a traditional Japanese kaiseki-ryori cuisine option. Experience real luxury in the Ko no Za wing, in which every guest suite has its own private open-air bath.
Additional charges apply for changes to the traditional Japanese kaiseki course dinner.

“The staff was all friendly and helpful.”

I thought the rooms were a little old, even though they were cleaned nicely, but the facilities in the building were very nice. There was a pleasant communal area, and we were given a welcome drink and were allowed to use it after check-out, which was very helpful. The bath was great and the food was satisfying. Most of all, the staff was very kind and I am very glad I chose this place. We took the train, but they drove us to the station, to the airport, and when we went sightseeing. They told us to call them on our way home as well, but we were so sorry that we took a cab. Thank you for always smiling at us and making our stay so enjoyable.

      “buffet style”

Breakfast was good, but the dinner buffet was terrible. Warm food is cold, dishes are not replenished depending on the dish, it is an Okhotsk buffet but there is no Okhotsk feeling, it is messy, etc. The buffet style is old-fashioned. Recently, many buffet restaurants serve warm dishes one by one in order. If they don't improve, I don't think there will be a next time. Other than that, though, it was very good,

“Peace of mind is the best”

The Tsuruga Group is the most careful about infectious disease countermeasures in East Hokkaido, and I think they take the utmost care in their service. The food is buffet style, but the dishes are divided into small portions and covered with plastic, so you can enjoy your meal with peace of mind. You can also see Ezo squirrels.
