In picturesque Kurokawa Onsen, Yamabiko Ryokan is a lovely place. Our room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, with a view of the river and overhanging lanterns which lit up the evening. The food was delicious and plentiful, and they were able to meet our dietary restriction of 'no fried foods'. The indoor public bath was lovely and comfortable, and there were also six private baths available if the door was open and unlocked, no prior reservation needed. The outdoor stone baths changed between men and women on a daily basis, with one being larger than the other, but both were in a lovely natural setting and enjoyable. The walking was lovely, to waterfalls and shrines as well as through the town with its shops and restaurants. We enjoyed our stay here immensely.
