I booked 2 rooms for my husband and I and for my parents whom had never been to Japan. We really wanted my parents to experience a traditional Japanese ryokan and luckily found this. Though the ryokan could use a bit of an update, it made up for it in the excellent customer service. The employees were all incredibly friendly, accommodating, and helpful. The rooms with enclosed porches were a generous size. The futons were very comfortable, even for my parents who had never slept on Japanese futons. The western breakfast option consisted of toast with salad and different fruit each day. The Japanese breakfast seemed a better value as you got miso soup, rice, and different fruit and fish each day. The location for Serabekkian was fantastic: 5 minutes walk from the nearest streetcar stop, 10 minutes to the peace park, and only a few minutes to the okonomiyaki tower. Overall, the 4 of us had a great stay and would definitely recommend this if you'd like a traditional ryokan in Hiroshima.
