Pros: HUGE room. Dinner served in-room (nice surprise, since I didn't pay extra). Breakfast wasn't buffet-style, but a beautiful arrangement in the dining room. Location is the best in Arima, a stone's throw from the train station. This means you won't get to explore the shops along Arima's hills, but older guests won't need to exert themselves. Hotel gift shop is excellent and well-stocked, with many delicious snacks complete with samples. Onsen was nice: a typical setup of 1 small outdoor tub, 1 large clear tub, 1 smaller tub with dark water. Temperatures were not as hot as many other onsen I've been to. High quality hair/body products, also for sale at the hotel gift shop.
Cons: Room was a smelly smoking room, despite my requesting non-smoking. Meals were beautiful but as far as taste/quality, nothing mindblowing. They served my mother plum wine at dinner, but myself and my sister fruit juice, though we’re well past legal drinking age (not bad, but funny).
