Fudoin不動院

456 Koyasan, Koya-cho, Itsu-gun, Wakayama Prefecture

4.7/5 BEST REVIEW

by Maru U.S.A. / 13 Jun 2018

Our group enjoyed a delightful stay with the kind monks of Fudoin. WI especially enjoyed the vegan/vegetarian dinner and breakfast, which included a plethora of tasty dishes in small portions so that you could get a taste of many different foods. The morning meditation service was also a really profound experience that I will not soon forget. The service was exceptional and the room was modest but clean and cozy. As a small note, the monks will remove most of your towels from the room during the morning service/breakfast time, so be sure to do your face-washing before that time! Also, the WiFi is not very strong but you will probably be busy enough with sightseeing that it won't matter much.

Enjoy peace of mind listening to the chirping of birds, the rustling of leaves and the sound of water dripping into the pond. Enjoy dinner from private dining rooms with views of the garden. Have breakfast in a dining room or at a table in the shoin (traditional study hall) (built 450 years ago). After the morning Buddhist religious service, English guides introduce Mt. Koya to guests. Please note rooms do not have private baths.
