594 Koyasan, Koya-cho, Ito-gun, Wakayama Prefecture

by Caroline Belgium / 04 Dec 2018

The ceremony in the early morning was quite special and a worthwhile expererience. The Japanese vegetarian meals in the evening and morning were good and plentiful. Some Westerners staying the same night we were didn't enjoy it as much, but we were going for the experience and weren't disappointed. The Japanese style room was very spacious and the beds on the tatami mats very comfy, the blanket was so light and fluffy that it was like sleeping in a cocoon. The hot water baths in the temple are a bonus. Also it is in a great location, close to the main attractions, the pagoda and the ancient cemetary.
