The good: the location is awesome, steps away from the old district of Gion and many amazing temples. The room is spacious, with large glass doors overlooking a quaint Japanese garden. Cata roam free. The hostess is very nice and willing to help. Dinner and breakfast are served in your room.
The bad: bathroom is tiny and outdated. Not practical for a couple. Room smells of humidity and common parts of cats. Western breakfast is limited (tea/coffee, grapefruit, juice, slides bread, hard boiled egg) and dinner can unfortunately cold. Woke us with back pain after a night on the tatami. Expensive.
Bottom line: good to spend one bight to experience a ryokan. Not more.
