LOVED our stay here. A peaceful retreat with a gorgeous outdoor bath with healing waters within a bucolic mountain setting. No English spoken & uncomfortable/difficult to be vegan or gluten-free or assert any other dietary restrictions or preferences. Keep in mind it's about a 20-minute $50 cab ride from the Shinano-Omachi JR station each way. That said, if you give into the experience fully, without judgment and conditions, and just go with it 100%, guaranteed a truly special, memorable time accessible to very few. Convenient to the Tateyama Korube Alpine Route which is an absolute must do. If you are looking to truly unplug, have the sounds of a fresh water bubbling creek lull you to sleep, have the warm proprietors take good care of you, and experience a truly off the radar authentic Japanese ryokan experience with delicious home-made kaiseiki for dinner and breakfast, then highly recommended. P.S. Super important to check in between 3PM & 6PM, no later.
