Great historical building. Room looks exactly as shown in the pictures, and the futons are the best I've ever slept on during my Japan trip. The in-room kaiseki dining is one of the best experience and the meals are very delicious. The staff who served us is very friendly and we enjoyed her company very much even though we don't understand much Japanese and she don't in English. The famous outdoor onsen is the best in the ryokan. The water is very comfortable to soak in, it wasn't very hot.
But I feel the reception service can be better. We arrived at the lobby early before the check-in time, but the staff seems very surprised and at a loss at handing us. There's basically no service.
