Beautiful large tatami rooms with a personal deep bath. Amazing service, wireless was flaky in our room so the owner called in an technician to fix it on a Sunday evening. We got by with minimal Japanese but if you have no Japanese at all, some things may be harder. Front desk staff spoke some English but our room maid did not. Note that the day starts early -- 7.30am wakeup and 8am breakfast with dinner at 6.30pm. We stayed for 2 nights and could not have handled the sheer quantity of food provided for much longer than that. It was utterly delicious but not for the faint of stomach in either size or type. If you don't like all manner and eating things without too many questions, I would not suggest here. You will get to eat an amazing variety of seafood. The onsen is lovely but on the smaller side. The mens' onsen was always fairly quiet but the womens' onsen was occasionally overcrowded. The ryokan is quite a way from the Shinkansen station so expect to catch a cab for about 1400 yen.
