The best out of 6 budget hotels stayed during our 2 weeks trip! The café is a great place to hang around the whole morning – nice buffet with good coffee in relaxed ambience & excellent “pitstop” before proceeding to Shinjuku Express Bus Terminal. (Rooms at lower price range are usually “cram” & breakfast, if included, is either outsourced to fastfood chain or served at canteen-like setup).
Access is easy but we may have looked lost due to the massive crowd in station. An old Japanese man who speaks fluent English approached, offered help & led the way up to Koban near hotel. He's a retired teacher with free train pass & walks 8hrs/day by showing the way from station/s.
Same staff attended our check-in 8.30p.m, check-out 2nd day 11.00a.m. & queries. He speaks fluent English. Service was adequate despite the long working hours.
Kabukicho is really happening with lots of shops & restaurants, but do check-out nearby “Jiro Ramen” for delicious ramen in JUMBO-size serving fr. 700Y.
