As a group of four we were looking for a modern ryokan in snow country with English support and indoor/outdoor hot springs baths. We enjoyed our welcome here in English with the usual tea and sweets plus the addition of several saki samples and our large room with Western beds and futons as well as a private cedar hot tub on the deck overlooking the river and snowy hillside. The room had a choice of complementary cookies, tea, coffee, and bottled water. We choose the delicious Sukiyaki dinner served in a private dining room. Breakfast was buffet style with numerous Japanese dishes and a small selection of Western dishes. The public baths were in large wooden tubs inside and outside with temperatures of water ranging from very hot to hot. The bathing amenities were of good quality with many options available. We would stay here again and recommend it to friends.
