Announcing the First Honkaku Shochu
& Awamori Cocktail Competition

On October 17th, 2018, the first Japan-wide Honkaku Shochu & Awamori Cocktail Competition was held at Asakusa View Hotel. Check out all the cocktails that appeared in the competition!

These days, Japan is seeing many more international visitors than in the past. Bartenders in hotels and other establishments developed genuine shochu and awamori-based original cocktails in order to spread awareness about Japanese alcoholic beverages as kinds of alcohol that can be drunk as cocktails in hotel bars, where such visitors are likely to begin drinking. These drinks then competed in terms of flavor, visual appeal, and creativity.

The final was held with the 20 winners of the preliminaries that were organized by the twelve nation-wide chapters of the Hotel Barmen’s Association, Japan, with winners elected for first prize, runner up, third place, the JSS Award, and the Technical Award.
