More about Shukubo Kambayashi Katsukane

Among the 30 temple lodgings in Toge, this is the closest one to the stone steps leading to Mt. Haguro, and is approximately 5 minutes away on foot from the Five-storied Pagoda. It is the perfect location for taking a stroll along the avenue of cedar trees on Mt. Haguro.

- Guests can visit Mt. Haguro throughout the year. During the winter, roads are cleared of snow, so guests can visit without worry.
- Climbing season on Mt. Gassan starts from July 1, and is open until mid-September. By taking a vehicle, it is possible to travel to the gate closure along the roads on Mt. Gassan. (Around the end of October)
- In 2019, regular buses bound for Mt. Gassan will operate between July 1 and Aug. 31, as well as Sept. 1, 7-8, 14-16, 21-23, and 28-29.
- Buses from Mt. Yudono bound for Tsuruoka are only in operation Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays during June 3 - Oct. 29.
*The closest convenience store to the temple lodging is about 10 minutes away by car.
