This ryokan, established in the heart of the old capital in 1818, offers a splendid location for strolling or shopping in the nearby downtown area. The main building is a two-floor wooden structure built in the traditional sukiya style, and the three-floor new building, while featuring a steel frame, is imbued with traditional Japanese sensibility. Most of the guestrooms offer views of the main garden or smaller gardens. Dinner is prepared in the famous Kyoto kaiseki-ryori style featuring seasonal ingredients, and each item of the course is served one at a time on carefully selected dishes. Feel welcomed by this ryokan's humble, modest hospitality.
