Ogoto Onsen is said to have been opened about 1,200 years ago in the Heian Period by Saicho, founder of the Enryaku-ji Temple on Mt. Hiei. In addition to the standard Japanese-style rooms, there are also guestrooms equipped with open-air baths. The open-air baths in the special guestrooms use natural hot spring water.
