Tsutaya Hijiori Hotel

How to get there?
By car: From the Higashine IC on the Yamagata Expressway, take National Route 13 for approx. 70 min., and then change to Prefectural Route 31, Prefectural Route 330, Prefectural Route 30, and then National Route 458, and drive for approx. 30 min.
From JR Yamagata Shinjo Station: Take the bus bound for Hijiori Onsen (approx. 55 min.), and get off at the Hijiori Dai-ni bus stop. From there, the hotel is approx. 2 min. away on foot.
Yuyado Motokawarayu
This riverfront ryokan is set in a tranquil area just 2 minutes on foot from the onsen village. Guests can enjoy a great view of the surrounding area from the cloudy crimson baths. Guests also really enjoy the hotel's traditional Japanese meals served fireside, where one can sit around a fire and enjoy dishes made from Yonezawa beef and local ingredients.
How to get there?
From Shinjo Station (JR Yamagata Shinkansen): Take the bus bound for Hijiori Onsen and get off at Hijiori Onsen Bus Stop (about 60 minutes). About 2 minutes on foot from there.
By car: Exit the Tohoku-Chuo Expressway at Higashine IC and continue along National Route 13 for about 45 minutes (40 km), then Prefectural Route 31 and National Route 358 for about 30 minutes (25 km).
Kangetsu
This five-story hotel has a spectacular open-air rooftop bath. The hotel also places importance on healthy cuisine, making use of mountain vegetables and mushrooms.
How to get there?
From Shinjo Station (JR Yamagata Shinkansen) West Exit: About 40 minutes by taxi.
By car: Exit the Yamagata Expressway at Yamagata-kita IC and continue along Route 13 for about 90 minutes (70 km).
Miharuya
It is said that the original form of hot spring cure can be found here. Ushering in the new era of hot spring cure, the ryokan's hot springs are popular among guests.
How to get there?
From Shinjo Station (JR Yamagata Shinkansen): about 50 min by car.
By car: Exit the Yamagata Shinkansen at Yamagata-kita IC and continue along Route 13.
