Hokkaido
Very popular for its stunning cherry blossom panoramic view from an observation tower
This western-style fort built by the Tokugawa shogunate (1857-66) in the harbour city of Hakodate following the military architectural plan and designs of famous 17th century French military architect Vauban, Goryokaku, is one of the largest fort ever constructed in Japan which was the center action of the Boshin War (1868-9) between the last remnants of the Tokugawa clan and Meiji Government. The star-shaped ruins of the fort is now a park in which can be found diverse species of cherry blossoms, such as the someiyoshino-kind. History says that the cherry blossoms were planted to commemorate the ten thousandth issue of the Hakodate Mainichi Shimbun newspapaper since its first release.

Akita
Wander through to a real time travel and gaze at a wonderful contrast of old cherry trees
The beautiful weeping cherry trees are blooming on both sides of the street where samurai residences can be found as well lined up all along the street. The story says that these cherry trees were transplanted from Kyoto and that most of them are actually of the same kind as those found in Gion, Kyoto. The weeping cherry trees are over three hundred years old and 152 of them are listed as historically protected plants among the nation. But, the "beauty" highlight is definitely during cherry blossom period when a magnificent "tunnel "results from all the cherry blossoms flowering along the Hinokinai River for about 2 kilometers.

Aomori
Castle & cherry, Tohoku at its best! One of the biggest cherry blossom festival in the region!
The Hirosaki Castle, in Hirosaki City, is the symbol of all castle towns in Japan with a history of about 400 years. By the end of April, approximately 2600 cherry blossoms would start to bloom within the castle grounds, with as a stunning scenery, Mt. Iwaki crowned with remaining snow. At the western moat where Shunyo Bridge crosses over, cherry blossoms flower like a magical tunnel during which cherry blossom nocturnal views are even extremely appreciated for their beauty. The Hirosaki Cherry Blossom Festival is usually held every year from April 23 to May 5th (Dates may vary according to the number of blooming cherry blossoms).

Ishikawa
Harmony & Spring! A real traditional garden pearl in Japan for its unique 300 petals cherry flower kind!
The Kenrokuen Garden which was designed around 1671-83 along with Kanazawa Castle during Edo period is often mentioned as one of the three most beautiful gardens in Japan and is generally designated as the nation's most special place for scenic beauty viewing. Diverse ranges of trees are planted and the garden is designed following the garden structure of so called "Rinsenkaiyu System" in which visitors are allowed to sightsee the entire garden while resting in tea houses located randomly within the grounds. The garden is decorated with about 420 cherry trees and there are many noted trees such as the Kenrokuen-kiku-sakura that blooms with 300 pieces of petals within one flower, and the Kenrokuen-kumagai-sakura that are about 300 years old, etc. At night, Kanazawa Castle(during the opening of the garden for free entrance of the cherry blossoms viewing at the Kenrokuen Garden) and the Kenrokuen Garden are usually light up.

Enjoy from the top of Mt. Oohira at an altitude of 345 m an exciting and wonderful view on the Kanto Plains that will keep your breath away! On the eastern side of Mt. Oohira where emerged undisturbed Oohira shinto shrine, the view on Kenshindaira plain is quite a spectacular one. An area quite frequently visited from the past, Mount Oohira Park was designed in 1883. In this outstanding park, about 4,000 cherry blossom trees were planted creating nowadays on both sides of Mt.
