TOURS, HOTEL/RYOKAN Booking in Japan

JAPANiCAN Times - Vol.1 November 2007

Welcome to JAPANiCAN! Japan, I can!

What is JAPANiCAN and what does JAPANiCAN distinctly offer as services? Our Belgian staff Chris interviewed Junichi, manager of JAPANiCAN.

Chris:
What is JAPANiCAN and what does your website distinctly offer as services?

Junichi:
In a simple definition, JAPANiCAN is a multilingual online booking travel website designed for foreigners especially for individuals backpacking on their own around Japan. Our website offers a selection of three possible functions:

1. Tour Package Booking Search and Reservation in Japan
2. Hotel+ Ryokan (traditional Japanese-style hotel) Booking Search and Reservation in Japan
3. A Complete and Exclusive Online Travel Information Guide about Japan
(Travel hints: from Japanese customs to latest trends)

Chris:
Does the name of JAPANiCAN have a special meaning? Does it include any sense of a motto to your website ?

Junichi:
Yes, actually "JAPANiCAN" stands for JAPAN x I ("I; me", "Eye" which is actually our website logo you can find next to our website title" & "Information") x CAN meaning everyone, whether they look for booking or just an access to some information, can easily find their way through our website which we decided to create in a very simple and practical use; "CAN" also symbolizes our country as an unlimited tourist potential destination. We wish everyone become charmed with an irresistible fascination into Japan and get intensely inspired by a future journey into our country.

Chris:
Would you qualify JAPANiCAN as a totally reliable website?

Junichi:
100% capitalized by the JTB (ex-Japan Travel Bureau) Holding Group, one of the most prestigious travel agency in Japan, which has a knowledge and experience of travel industry of more than 90 years, JAPANiCAN, now one of the largest website in the world for tours and hotel booking, is actually sponsored by that holding group in order to enhance the Japanese government Yokoso Japan campaign to develop inbound tourism in Japan.
Another value of our services to help you out in any trouble: our international (Japanese/English) and English speaking friendly customer support center team which you can contact either by e-mail or by phone from Monday to Saturday.

Chris:
Great! About how many hotels does your website actually cover?

Junichi:
We have more than 1,600 hotels and ryokan (Japanese style traditional inns) covering over more than 47 cities in Japan.

Chris:
As for all the hotels and ryokan that you have selected on your website, can we say that all the fares that you propose are uniquely advantageous (compared to other travel services)?

Junichi:
Yes, they are! As you may know, most of product fares shown on the majority of travel websites or dealt within travel agencies are, generally speaking, 20 or 30% higher than what normal local markets actually give as they need "intermediate" (what we call retailers) to distribute their travel deals.
On the contrary, JAPANiCAN offers a natural direct selling market without tricky retailers in between meaning that you pay exactly as the product is sold on a local basis.
In other words, you will pay absolutely the same price as a Japanese will do in a normal travel shop in Japan. A huge profit value guaranteed.

Chris:
We talked mainly about JAPANiCAN unique usability, hotels, information, etc. How about the tours that you propose?

Junichi:
At the present time, we are able to offer an average of 1,030 tours especially tailored to the needs of any potential visitor and situation. For example, one of our most popular tour to Mt. Fuji and Hakone even have a multilingual audio guiding devices incorporated in mandarin Chinese, Korean, Spanish and German.

Chris:
An exclusive information travel guide website? In which sense?

Junichi:
Our information database, Japan Info catalogued over more than 20,000 travel sources and 4,500 sight-seeing events information are exclusive in the sense they are interactive information for some of them (e.g. webcast videos, etc.) and also in the sense they are especially shaped to respond to every needs to a successful and enjoyable stay.

To be continued.
