HOME > JAPAN TRAVELGUIDE JTB opened in Second Life
JTB Group proudly launched a SIM called "Japan TravelGuide JTB" on the Internet containing a 3D virtual world "Second Life" on October 15, 2007. Its theme is 'Japanese Ryokan.'
Our traditional Japanese-style Ryokan has a Japanese garden, which beautifully depicts Kyoto, with its very own Ashiyu (Japanese foot bath) that will help you to relax. JAPANiCAN provides a wealth of information on traveling in Japan and special welcome-gifts for visitors.

A Ryokan is a traditional Japanese-style inn. Ryokans in the real world offer warm, friendly hospitality and are entire complexes, which offer recreation, food, relaxation, healing and so on.
Our virtual Ryokan will also welcome you with lots of events. It has "camping spots" where you can dance Bonodori (Japanese traditional dance) and get Linden Dollars, Japanese-style rooms where a few people can relax, a souvenir shop and much more.

Ashiyu is one type of public bath that can refresh tired travelers. People in real life exchange information on their travels while dipping their feet into it. The Ashiyu in Second Life will help you do the same.
There are various types of Onsen or natural, mineral rich hot springs scattered across Japan. The benefit of each Onsen depends on its chemical composition and many people swear by the effectiveness of their properties against many different illnesses. Our map-of-Japan-shaped virtual Ashiyu introduces real Onsen-Ryokans from all over Japan, which we hope you'll have the opportunity to experience and enjoy by yourself.

Japanese gardens not only borrow from the world's famous landscapes, but also envision the universe as a whole. In Second Life, we have used Japanese plastic art to create a small universe in the hope you will sense the peace, tranquility and beauty that a "silent" world can transmit.
