The significance of the first sunrise of the year in Japan:
In Japan, the first sunrise is a special event that is celebrated to welcome the coming of a new year. It is believed that the Toshigami (god of the year) appears at sunrise and brings good fortune for the new year. Many people also use this occasion to make a wish or a new years resolution for the new year.

About the chartered cruise ship HOTALUNA:
The HOTALUNA is a space ship themed cruise ship which features a streamline silver metallic body, gull-wing doors, and an outdoor open-air deck, offering spectacular views inside and out. As the sun begins to set, the inside of the ship is lit up in a pale light which reflects on the Sumida River creating the illusion of a firefly passing over water. The name HOTALUNA derives from the Japanese word for firefly (hotaru) and the Latin name for moon (Luna). HOTALUNA is designed and produced by of one of Japan's most famous manga and animation artist, Reiji Matsumoto, who was involved in the creation of both Space Battleship Yamato and Galaxy Express 999.

About the HOTALUNA cruise ship:
Gross tonnage: 167 tons. Speed at sea: 11.3 knots. Total length and width: 40m × 9m.
Indoor seating capacity: Sofa seats (76), table seats (10). Outdoor deck capacity: Standing (about 50 people).
On-board facilities: Restrooms, Heating.

2. The cruise will be accompanied by two English-speaking Asakusa furisode-san performers. Participants will be able to take photos together with the performers during the cruise.

About the Asakusa furisode-san performers:
Asakusa district is historically one of the city's most famous sightseeing areas and is renowned for maintaining the history and culture of the Edo period (old Tokyo). Like the maiko-han that represent the spirit of Kyoto, the Asakusa furisode-san are the cultural ambassadors of Edo tradition.

3. Participants can look forward to delicious and easy to eat Japanese-style rice ball and tea bento.
