Fantastic. I stayed in one of the western-style rooms (as that was all that was available). The room was fairly basic but very nice. The Japanese dinner and breakfast were fantastic--and the service at meals and all other times was equally great. (I didn't use the hot springs so can't comment on them.) An earlier review commented that if you speak no Japanese it is difficult staying here but that is not so. Admittedly I had a Japanese-English speaker with me when I checked in but even without her I would have been ok as they had certain instructions printed out in English. It was a great experience. (It is also very close to the station--no more than about a ten-minute walk away down an easy route, especially if you check it out first on Google Street, as I did.

If you don't speak Japanese then it might be a bit difficult for you to understand what is going on, but the staff try their best to accommodate you and work extremely hard to explain everything. I really enjoyed the dinner and breakfast, they were very different from an American meal, and by very different I mean, "WOW, I was not expecting that...". Prepare yourself for raw-everything. Everything was presented so beautifully that I almost couldn't eat it! The baths were really nice and the entire building was really very quiet. I did not get the opportunity to go to the hot springs so I can't say anything about that. There isn't much to do other than relax in the rooms, so I would recommend this place for someone who wants to eat an extremely fancy traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast. You simply come in the evening to check in, have your bath, eat dinner, go to bed, wake up, eat breakfast, and leave. There's nothing more too it. It was a really good experience otherwise.
