This is a traditional Japanese-style, cypress-made inn located in the heart of Kyoto. It has an old feel and has quiet surroundings. Guests are met with polite service. The seasonal the traditional, elegant Japanese kaiseki dishes are exceptional. Please note that the latest possible start time for dinner is 7 p.m., so the ryokan asks that guests check in by this time. Guests who will arrive later than 7 p.m. are asked to contact the ryokan (in advance, if possible).

This ryokan, established in the heart of the old capital in 1818, offers a splendid location for strolling or shopping in the nearby downtown area. The main building is a two-floor wooden structure built in the traditional sukiya style, and the three-floor new building, while featuring a steel frame, is imbued with traditional Japanese sensibility. Most of the guest rooms offer views of the main garden or smaller gardens. Dinner is prepared in the famous Kyoto kaiseki-ryori style featuring seasonal ingredients, and each item of the course is served one at a time on carefully selected dishes. Feel welcomed by this ryokan's humble, modest hospitality.

30 minutes by car from Kyoto station. The view from the open-air bath is amazing. This is a brilliant ryokan (Japanese-style hotel) with cherry-blossoms and wild azalea in the spring, firefly on a cool-summer's evening, autumn's red leaves and in winter, snow can be seen whilst enjoying the pot-dishes. This ryokan offers plans without dinner, but asks guests to be aware that because of its remote location deep in the mountains, there are no restaurants in the surrounding area. The ryokan can later accept separate requests for meals; however initially booking the plan including breakfast and dinner is recommended as it is a better value.
