50 minutes drive from Kyoto Station. Takao is called Kyoto's inner parlor. This peaceful, old ryokan (Japanese-style hotel) is located across the suspension bridge. This ryokan offers plans without dinner, but asks guests to be aware that because of its remote location deep in the mountains, there are no restaurants in the surrounding area. The ryokan can later accept separate requests for meals; however initially booking the plan including breakfast and dinner is recommended as it is a better value.

There is a Japanese/Western-style guestroom with an open-air bath where guests can enjoy the sweeping view of autumn leaves all to themselves and a wooden deck where guests can relax during warm seasons. There is also a Japanese-style room with 2 adjoining rooms which is the closest guestroom to the river in the entire hotel.

This room has an open-air bath from which guests can look out on the Kiyotaki River, and from early June to early July, guests can enjoy seeing Japanese fireflies from their rooms and the open-air baths. After the hotel lights go out, enjoy watching the fireflies wondrously flying about.

[Kawadoko Traditional Riverside Terrace Dinner & Maiko Visit]
From June 3 to September 23, 2017, dinner will be served at the ryokan annex's kawadoko traditional riverside terraces. During the meal, the terraces will be visited by maiko, apprentice geisha, and guests can enjoy a chat and take pictures. Not available to be served in-room.
Dinner begins at 18:00, so please check in by that time.
Note that guests arriving at 19:00 or later will not be able to dine at the riverside dining area.

[Firefly Viewing & Maiko Visit]
Also, from June 3 to July 2, guests can enjoy the flashing illuminations of fireflies. All the lights will be extinguished for a short time from about 20:10 so that guests may admire the fireflies in the dark.

Breakfast will be served in the restaurant or banquet halls.
