The ryokan is in a little bad location (20 mins by car to closest station) as it is difficult to get there unless you have a car, but they have a shuttle service that picked us up at the station, when we arrived we were offered some tea and some homemade pumpkin sweets. The room was nice although nothing spectacular. The dinner was really nice with an abundance of variation in local dishes and fresh seafood, lots of local vegetables all in very high quality. we enjoyed the meal very much. in the evening we were also offered to be driven to the ryokans other site which was a bigger hotel style ryokan. there they had a big outdoor mixed gender onsen which was built around the original pump site for the spring. even though it was raining they had those japanese farmer hats we could wear during bathing. that bath had many different pools and was very nice. the ryokan itself has a much smaller onsen bath as it is a much smaller ryokan. Breakfast was also very enjoyable and in good quantity.
